Touring and camping in medieval Turku
The archipelago is stunning and it is said to be the largest in the world. If I should pick only one thing to do in Turku I would go for a boat ride or sailing.
Next to the harbour is Forum Marinum maritime museum. They present a very comprehensive look on ships and shipping. Turku is a former capital and the oldest town in Finland so the museums are really interesting places to visit. Turku Castle and Turku Cathedral are the most well known places to see.
Turku has a sophisticated dining scene with excellent restaurants. I like to visit Kauppahalli to enjoy some local specialty treats. There are also numerous festivals and events throughout the summer.
Moomins live in Naantali
Naantali is just an 18 km to west from Turku. Moomin World is open during the summer time. Naantali hibernates during the winter but gets busy in summer.
There are numerous art galleries and the most famous summer residence Kultaranta. Kultaranta has been the summer residence of Finnish presidents since 1922.
Camping in Turku
The camping site density peaks in south western Finland so there plenty of sites to choose from. Naantali Camping, Ruissalo Camping and Solliden Camping are all very close. Ilmarisen matkailutila and Best Caravan have overnight stay service.
